2 sheets requiring different print scaling none

Description sparg 2004-01-18 13:31:17 UTC
I have 2 sheets in a workbook: 1 which will fit on 1 page wide by 1 page tall;
a second which fits on 1 wide by 2 tall. If I focus the first sheet then enter
page format and select fit printout on 1 page; then focus the second sheet and
select fit printout to 2 pages it does not work. The last selection applies to
both sheets.

This make no sense as differently sized sheets require different formatting.
Applying page formatting to the entire document is not what users expect i.e.
unintuitive.

It is possible to achieve different format per sheet by creating a different
page style in the stylist for each sheet, but this is slow and unintuitive.
Few people would realise that this is possible and would expect page format
settings to be alterable for each sheet from the page format dialog. Printing
shouldn't be such a struggle.

Hi,

I have to set this to wontfix because OOo Calc is in it's layout caqpabilities
slightly different but in opinion more powerfull than our competitors. So there
is no chance to change this.

There is a way to have the best of both worlds:

Each sheet could have it's own style created by default, named sheet1_style
sheet2_style etc. The page format dialog works on the current sheet's style so
changes would only affect that sheet and any others set to the same style.

There would still be a default style and a user could set all his sheets to
the default style if he wants i.e. no change to current functionality at all.

I agree that the style mechanism is very good. A unique style per sheet would
give ease of use and full functionality.

Also it would be good to allow the sheet's style to be changed from the
Organiser tab in Page format. This would make the links between styles and
page formatting much more obvious. Maybe with a note about needing to use the
stylist to create/change styles, or a button to launch it?
