Changing the format for the caption of illustrations should be more easy.

It should, for example, be possible to change the format to

  Fig. <number>: <caption text>

instead of the current

  Illustration <number><caption text>

which doesn't look right in the first place, because there isn't even a space 
separating the number and the caption text. 

Of course, it should be possible to change this globally without having to 
manually change all the captions.

Please keep in mind that formulas (equations) could use a proper caption
management as well. Therefore I'd suggest to implement caption as an object
property and enhance positioning options by setting the positon to above, below,
left, right.
One might also think about implementing the captions as a table inside a frame.

Also http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=40957 is associated with
this issue, BTW.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
