I'm surprised not to find an earlyer submission of this feature request.
Probably I didn't search enough ...

OpenOffice.org writer lacks an outline editing mode for structured documents.
The stylist allows you to apply a heading level to a paragraph, and the
navigator allows you to have an overview of the outline of your document.

But a real outline mode should allow much more than this :

* Editable overview of the outline

* Possibility to move a whole section of the document by drag-and-drop (dragging
section 1.2 should move also subsections 1.2.1 1.2.2, ... and the associated
paragraphs)

* Possibility to fold and unfold sections and paragraph, to have the outline and
the portion of text you are editting in the same editing area.

* Changing the heading level of a whole section by drag-and-drop.

Are there some plans for something like this in OOo 2.0 ?

The navigator allows you to drag & drop the heading-levels/move whole sections.
But there is already a RFE for an outline view like in MS Word, see issue 3959.
