Description phemmel 2004-03-31 21:24:41 UTC
Hello

In the document converter, after selecting StarOffice document to convert, the
last text before to run the converter show the files found to convert.

The text says that OpenOffice.org files have been found and are going to be
converted.

It should say it has found StarOffice 5 files, and not OpenOffice.org files.

Quite confusing.

Bug found in the english and french version of OO 1.1.1

TM->OC: Can you please have a look. This one seems not to be a framework issue.
Thanks !

Hi Bettina, please decide which naming is correct
Comment 3 thackert 2004-11-21 17:32:34 UTC
I have seen that this issue was assigned to OOo-1.1.1RC and the last entry was
in April. Is this issue also in newer versions of OOo or could the original
poster close this issue?
Comment 4 thackert 2004-12-26 10:20:24 UTC
Sorry, I forgot the oooqa keyword the last time I was here ... :(
Could I have an answer to my question, please? Or is this issue solved in newer versions of OOo and could
be closed?
Comment 5 thackert 2005-01-30 18:17:51 UTC
I have not seen any comment ot my two entries at this issue since December, so I
close it as invalid. If the original reporter can comment it or this problem
also occurs in a newer version of OOo, he can reopen it again ... ;)

Sorry for the delay. I didn't see the question ... The issue still exists in the
1.1.4 version.

phemmel, can you try this with a recent developer snapshot (1.9.74 or above) and
see if this issue happens? If it does, it would be helpful for use to have a
sample StarOffice document that you have used to reproduce this problem. A step
by step list of what you did to reproduce it would be very helpful as well.

Thanks.

I tested with the 2.0bc version (in french). Same result.

Here is what I do :

In the document converter wizard, I select only StarOffice documents.
Then I select a directory containing a .sdw document. Then I press Next, and I
have a box shown in the convertisseur2.jpg picture.

As you can see, this box talked about OpenOffice.org document, but the document
was a old staroffice one (SDW).

So the "bug" is still here.

BUT ! I found if I select StarOffice document in the "new" wizard of OOo 2.0, it
converts StarOffice 5.2 documents (SDW and so on) AND OpenOffice.org documents
(.sxw ...) into OpenDocument Documents (.odt ...).

So the wrong message talking about OpenOffice.org documents (like in the
convertisseur2.jpg picture) is almost true ...

I think all the UI of the document converter wizard should be corrected. The
first choice (StarOffice oo MS Office, like in convertisseur1.jpg picture)
should talk about StarOffice / OpenOffice.org or MS Office documents.

I tested with OOo 1.9m100 (released on May 2005) and found, that "Document
Converter" Wizard still has bug with document type in step1 and summary step

In step1 - it 2 bugs:
 1. it has text "This wizard converts document in the old StarOffice format and
Microsoft Office documents to the new OpenDocument format" bug should have text
"This wizard converts document in the old StarOffice and OpenOffice 1.0 XML
format or Microsoft Office documents to the new OpenDocument format"
 2. Option "StarOffice" should be replaced with "StarOffice 5.x-7.x/OpenOffice
1.x" - I think this will also increase usability, because people would know
which StarOffice/OOo versions has "old" format.

In summary step text "All OpenOffice.org text documents, contained in the
following directory will be imported" is displayed if in step1 option
"StarOffice" and checkbox "Text documents" were choosen :-/ Same with templates,
spreadsheeds and other documents.
I suggest to change this text to "All OpenOffice.org 1.x/StarOffice 5.x-7.x text
documents, contained in the following directory will be imported"

Btw, maybe this Document Converter UI bug should be reported as new bug ?

current behaviour:

Start-page of the wizard reads: "StarOffice" only (while in OOo2 the converter
converts sxw documents as well)
Summary-page of the wizards (before running it) reads "OpenOffice.org"

this is inconsistent.

The dialog should read "StarOffice / OpenOffice.org 1.x" or something in both cases.
