Hi *

The problem: When an envelope (inserted with Insert/Enverlope) is printed out of
one and the same document, it is sometimes oriented like a portait, sometimes
like a landscape. Nothing is changed in between.

To reconstruct the problem:
(The following is translated literally from german. Perhaps there are some menu
entry or titles within dialogs with some other names).

1. Open OOo with a new, empty text document
2. Select the menu Insert/Envelope
3. Within the dialog "Envelope" select the tab "Printer".
4. There are 6 buttons. Press the most right one.
The option "Print from top" should already be selected.
5. Still in the dialog "Envelope", in the section "actual printer",
press the button "setup" and select a printer that takes envelopes
not in the middle of the paper case, and that takes the short
edge of the envelope first (I have chosen my Canon S630).
6. Back in the dialog "Envelope" press "Insert".
7. That is it!

Tip: Save this document as template before printing. Then it can easily be
restored by open a new document with this template. The following steps are only
reproduceable with a completly new document.

A. Now press File/Print... In the appearing dialog "Print" it is possibly
nessesary to reselect the printer that was choosen in step 5 above (is this
another bug?). Select "Page 1 to page 1" and press "Print"
=> Now the envelope is printed as it should be!

B. Now repeat step A. Perhaps, some settings are already ok, because OOo "knows"
them now.
=> Now the envelope has wrong orientation (by 90 degree).

It is possible to express this result as follow:

If you print the envelope the second time, the envelope is printed in a way that
would be correct if, in the above step 4, you'd pressed the most _left_ button
instead the most _right_ one.

Indeed! If you create a new document as described above, but press in step 4 the
most left button instead the most right one, this document is, as far as I see,
identical to the document created above. The only difference is that here the
envelope is printed from the very beginning like in step B.

This is by far not the only printing problem of OOo. As I mentioned in Issue
24452, I have done some trials and collected them in

http://de.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=19061

Unfortunately, the description is in german, but perhaps there are some german
developer :-/

Hello M* Michaelis,

thank you for reporting this issue!

@ Hi:

we have some more unconfirmed defects of "printing envelopes does not work" -
issues, which are not very popular in terms of how often they get handled by QA
(access to printer devices,..)
Concerning this issue I know from monitoring the previous discussion on german
user list, which lead to this report, that this issue will unlikely result in
"Invalid", "Wontfix" or "Worksforme".
Therefore setting issue to confirmed to make sure that it will not get lost in
the unconfirmed-defect-queue.

Did not check for IZ-duplicates.
