There is in OOo date format, where after month abbreviation is a dot (like 31.
Dec. 1999). Some month names are so short that they are not abbreviated, eg.
May, this means that there is no need to put dot after these names.
In different languages are these months different, eg. in Estonian we have 4
months that are not abbreviated. I think that program could compare both lists -
months and month abbreviations - for equal entries, and when found then throw
the dot away.

Certainly not a P3, and more of type enhancement than a defect.

Throwing away the dot in these cases may work for Estonian and probably a bunch
(the vast majority) of other languages, but would it be correct for all?
Implementation wouldn't be difficult. Furthermore, the main competitor doesn't
do it, and who knows what twisted souls rely on this behavior?

Nevertheleess, I propose to do the change and suppress a trailing dot in these
cases.

Forwarding to the User Experience team for decision.
