Description norbert2 2004-04-27 09:22:17 UTC
Because I wanted to make a cell show the string "=R1", not the dereferenced,
just the dereferenced value, just the string, I have entered "'=R1".

Here I found the following problems:

- enter "'=R1" into a cell

- re-select that cell:
The '-char is not shown in the edit-field. Excel shows it correct.

- double click the cell:
Here the '-char is also not shown in the cell when starting to edit it. Excel
shows it correctly.
Here Calc also has a bug, that shows the "R1" highlighted blue like it would be
a reference to the cell R1. (But it is correctly handled as string although
the '-char is not displayed.)

correction of the first sentence of my last comment:

"Because I wanted to make a cell show the string "=R1", not the de-referenced
value, just the string, I have entered "'=R1"."

Hi Niklas,

have a look at this one please.

Formatting the cell as text and following the description Calc will retain the
text value.
