to get this:
with ms office do{
1. add a text box;
2. insert an image into a text box;
3. add a text box and move it over the image;
4. Select all these objects;
5. group them (Draw->group)}

open with oo.org
the picture is missing

I can Reproduce the problem on 
OpenOffice.org 1.1.1 (default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. 
(And MS Office XP Sp2). 
It is real problem

2nd picture (right) is not visible on OOo.
I will attach screenshot at word xp

MRU->MM: Writer is not capable of grouping graphics and drawing objects. In this
case, the filter should workaround this and import the graphic independently
from the group or import the graphic as drawing object.

The issue is still present in OOO 3.1.1 and neooffice. In 5 years time this
should be fixed really. Thanks
