Description lc3 2004-06-29 02:39:03 UTC
I have an MS Excel document, which when loaded in OOo 1.1.2 or OOo 680m41
doesn't look right. Two problems:

1. I changed the Plot Area "Area" to "None" in excel, it becomes grey in OOo, i
must select "Chart Wall" and change "Fill" to "None" to make it look right.

2. I moved the axis labels and resized the chart itself, in OOo this goes back,
i must use the mouse to arrange the axis labels the way I want in OOo to fix it.

Will attach the Excel document...

Comment 2 lc3 2004-06-29 02:42:44 UTC
1. Open it in Excel
2. Remember what it should look like
3. Open it in OOo
4. Compair
Comment 3 kla 2004-07-02 13:14:34 UTC
Hm, i see. But I think both are an enhancement and not a defect.

kla->lc3: You agree?

kla->BH: its for you
Comment 4 lc3 2004-07-02 18:09:28 UTC
lc3->kla: I disagree, because OOo DOES have the features to make this chart look
correct, it misinturperates the microsoft chart, If OOo lacked the features to
eliminate the fill and allow the user to arrage the axis lables, it would be
enhancement.

Do you see what I mean now?

I've attched a document to show that with manual adjustments in OOo you can make
it look as it should.

(Optional Sidenote: I changed it ot "white" not "none" in that document because
i decided it looked nicer against the grid in the bg of OOo but thats
irrelivant, last minute decicion. It should proably be "None" since this was
what was selected in Excel.)

->Daniel: This looks like a defect in the import filter. Please have a look. Thanks.

Wrong background format -> issue 47745

Manual position and size of chart objects is not imported currently due to various
problems with the undocumented file format. -> Started

I confirm this problem with OOo 2.3 m213
Comment 14 daniel.rentz 2010-05-20 15:46:18 UTC
Positioning of axis titles is now correct.
However, the chart will still be imported as embedded object in a regular
spreadsheet, and not as chart-sheet, which is currently an Excel-only feature.
See issue 5736 for details.
