Description bootsy52 2004-07-18 17:00:38 UTC
With the current version of OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 it is impossible (at least to
my knowledge) to delete a data range from within a chart, by clicking on the
bar. Or in other words, I want to click on bar in a chart, hit delete to have it
disappear from the chart. And thus having the corresponding data range, not to
be a part of the chart any longer.

This is possible in Excel and seems to be a useful feature for me (in terms of
Workflow).

Reassigned to Ingrid.
Comment 3 rafaelda 2005-02-11 05:44:17 UTC
I also think it would be very useful
Comment 4 IngridvdM 2005-02-23 17:47:11 UTC
Yes, this is a useful feature missing compared to similar products. We should do
this.

Shorten summary from 'Ability to delete datarange from within Chart (remove bars
from chart)' --> 'Ability to delete data series'
Comment 5 IngridvdM 2005-02-23 17:48:56 UTC
summary changed now
Comment 6 IngridvdM 2006-03-17 13:06:20 UTC
iha->bm: Please take care of this one.

Ok, accepted.
Comment 8 mestech 2006-07-21 19:48:55 UTC
I have deleted series from charts before but you have to re-create the chart.
It isn't nice and neat.

This feature is coming from what I have tried in the 2.6 build I tried earlier
this week.

I have put forward Issue 67518 to improve the UI for creating and editting
charts by giving the user more control from a single UI, not a whole selection
of menus and/or clicks.

At present, you left click on the chart, right click, left click on modify data
range, and then hopefully know how to remove the series that you want to delete.

A UI like I propose that is similiar to what is in the build I am trying is a
great improvement over what is present now.

->mestech: Please refrain from writing long comments in issues if they don't
affect the current issue. I think this issue is very clear: select a series,
press delete -> it should be removed.

The fact that other parts of the UI are not always optimal is known, but we have
to focus on particular problems in issues. If you want to start a discussion
about the UI in a more general scope, I suggest to use the mailing list
dev@graphics.openoffice.org .

Just imagine, you were a developer: if an issue says "make the red thing blue",
it is very clear what to do and you can fix this. If it says "and there is also
this and that, and you could do this thing better", it is very hard to do
anything about such issues.

In complement :
-> In Excel is also possible to delete axis, grid, all elements of the chart
with "Delete" touch

Comment 11 bjoern.milcke 2006-08-01 14:26:24 UTC
Changed summary to make clearer what this issue is about and avoid duplicates.

*** Issue 68039 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Comment 13 IngridvdM 2007-03-14 18:03:53 UTC
This issue is fixed within the chart re-implementation in CWS chart2mst3.
When a series is selected it is now possible to delete it with the delete key.

Please verify in Milestone 12. (Already fixed in Milestone 11).
