I am sorry, i forget to set OS. I noticed this problem only in Fedora Linux. Tim Coulter 25 Sept. 2004 I was able to replicate this error on one configurations. However, I failed to replicate it on two other configurations. Here are the steps I followed: 1)Open the attached file, test.xml, in your favorite XML viewer. Since this is an error with displaying the specified characters, make sure your favorite XML viewer displays those characters properly. 2)Run OpenOffice.org Writer. 3)In Writer, make sure the selected font is “Bitsream Vera Serif.†4)Copy and Paste the characters from your XML viewer into OpenOffice.org Writer, and determine if the error occurred. Configuration that successfully replicated the error: Configuration 1: Fedora Core 1 Linux Kernel 2.6.7 Running OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz 1 GB RAM Configurations that failed to replicate the error: Configuration 2: Gentoo Linux Kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 Running OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 AMD Athlon XP Mobile processor 2600 (2.0 Ghz) ATI Radeon Mobility IGP 320M (U1) 768 MB RAM total 64 MB RAM shared with video card Configuration 3: Fedora Core 2 Linux Kernel 2.6.5-1 Running OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 AMD Athlon XP Mobile processor 2600 (2.0 Ghz) ATI Radeon Mobility IGP 320M (U1) 768 MB RAM total 64 MB RAM shared with video card Notice that Configuration 2 and 3 are the same machine running a different Linux version. I was able to replicate this error only in Fedora Core 1. I was unable to replicate the error on Fedora Core 2. However, the configurations running Fedora had different versions of OpenOffice running. Under Gentoo Linux, OpenOffice 1.1.2 failed to replicate the error. The configurations above were the only configurations available for me to test. Some more testing may be needed to pinpoint this error on a particular OS or OpenOffice version. XML file of Lithuanian characters
->HDU: Is this a font issue? The Bitstream Vera fonts do not contain these unicodes you mentioned above: U+0105 U+012f U+016b U+0117 U+0119 U+0173 The best solution for now is to select another font that supports Lithuanian characters. There was a discussion where someone suggested to extend the Bitstream Vera fonts to at least the WGL set... Maybe even installing Java (which contains some fonts with WGL support) might help. Other than that I'm reassigning it to IH to raise awareness about the need to ship WGL fonts in the extras... IH->Erwin: please take care of this issue |
