Hi! I like OpenOffice.org. The idea is very powerful, but there is something,
that I'm concerned with: why its underlying GUI implementation isn't Qt.

I'm sure that Qt (of www.trolltech.com) is the best GUI toolkit available now
(it's absolutely cross-platform, fast and beautiful). I'm also sure that
OpenOffice.org ported to Qt will increase its user base tremendously -- I think
all KDE users will just LOVE it.

I think all Gnome and all Windows users will hate it :-)

About Windows and Gnome users: Qt compiles for Windows fine, besides,
Qt is skinnable, so, it will work fine under both Windows and Gnome
with their native Look&Feel. It will probably make OpenOffice work
faster and more portable across different platforms.

Since StarOffice and OpenOffice share the same codebase it is not an
option to use Qt: We would be in need for commercial licences for
StarOffice. Good luck in getting the funding. What is more we simply
won't do it as we do not have the resources to do the port.

If you are interested in a Qt based OOo please go to the ooo porting
newsgroups and ask for volunteers and comments.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.
