as mentioned in 3rd comment in issue http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.
cgi?id=5642 and by rde in discuss@openoffice.org :

splash screen should display what various modules are being loaded (or 
functional groups of actions are performed). it probably should show up above 
progress bar.

this has additional psychological effect (startup time might seem shorter if you 
have some things to read) and it might help in diagnosing startup problems

setting keywords, reassigning. (I'm sceptical whether this is the worth the
effort... OOo now loads much faster)

The Issue you raised is currently assigned to 'Requirements' pending review, but
has not been updated within the last 2+ years. Please consider re-testing with
one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been
addressed. Either use the recent stable version:
