It would be better if some sort of progress bar or animation was running during
this process, and it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Changed component to database access. Reassigned to Marc.
Comment 2 marc.neumann 2002-05-07 14:12:47 UTC
assigned to you because it's an enhancement
Comment 3 Frank Schönheit 2002-06-04 12:03:37 UTC
changed title from
app appears to hang while importing system address book
to
[RFE] show progress bar or animation while importing system address
  book

, cause I think the old title suggested not what is requested here.

In addition, assigning this to the submitter for a more concrete
description.
"cHANCE", what do you mean with "importing system address book"? Where
exactly do you think OOo is not responsive enough?

Created attachment 1901 [details]
screen shot of dialog that causes the screen to freeze for several seconds
Comment 5 Unknown 2002-06-10 10:37:34 UTC
When you run Openoffice components for the first time, the address
Auto-pilot runs automatically. When it does run, it freezes my
system; it would be better if some sort of progress was indicated on
the screen during address import work otherwise it appears the system
hangs.

the bug summary seems appropriate, feel free to modify it
Comment 6 Unknown 2002-06-24 12:08:49 UTC

grabbing it for the moment - is confirmed as valid RFE, so no need to
bother QA.
Comment 8 Frank Schönheit 2002-12-19 14:35:48 UTC
setting target milestone to OOo 2.0
Comment 9 Frank Schönheit 2002-12-19 14:36:41 UTC

Comment 10 hans_werner67 2004-02-02 12:10:37 UTC
change subcomponent to 'none'
Comment 11 Frank Schönheit 2004-07-07 21:19:56 UTC
assigning to user experience team for evaluation
Comment 12 stp 2006-05-06 23:52:26 UTC
I believe the concept is somewhat different in 2.0. Thus thus issue is closable.
