Description lbridle 2004-11-25 20:53:29 UTC
When I inserted an existing sheet that also contains my special header and
footer info, this info is lost and returns to the same default info as in a new
sheet.

Hi,

this is not a bug. Informations like header and footer are stored in page
styles. Such styles can be easily assigned to a sheet by using the stylist. Such
styles are stored only with the document you've created it. If you insert a
sheet into such an file and the page style has different settings at least one
of them will be destroyed. So on insert sheet from file styles will not be inserted.

You may think about an user defined default template. Have a look at the help
system about that.

Hi,

I'm surprised this issue would be declared invalid.

I was expecting that when I 'insert sheet from file' that it would actually
"insert the sheet", i.e. the whole sheet and not just some part of it. For me,
that would include all my data items including headers and footers. (The actual
implmentation details are irrelevant from my users perspective.)

So, for me the current solution does not match my user requirements. On the
presumption that my user requirements are very similar to most users ( I did ask
a few), doesn't that make this issue a valid 'bug'?

BTW, the other spreadsheet does it the way I expect and has been for many years.

Further, would not a solution that inserts my whole sheet be a more effective
and productive solution for users, instead of having to take extra steps to
replace the info that was dropped? Is it not the higher quality solution and
hence the right thing to do?

I hope OO.org will reconsider this issue.

Thanks

Larry

Hi,

no it doesn't qualify it as a bug but maybe an enahncement. So I change the
Issue type and re-assign it.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
