Description Frank Schönheit 2005-01-04 11:25:23 UTC
if you are trying to create a database document with no Java installed (or
disabled in Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Java), then OOo crash as soon as you
try to connect to this database.
To reproduce:
- disable Java usage in Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Java
- File|New|Database
=> the "New Database" wizard opens
- press Next
- press Finish
- save the DB document with an arbitrary name
=> the database is created, saved, and opened
- notice that the status bar reads "HSQL database engine" (so you in fact created
  a Java driven database)
- click onto the "Tables" icon in the left hand side pane
- answer the question about enabling Java with "No"
=> an error message pops up
- confirm the error message
=> crash

Note: the above description sounds rather theoretic, since probably nobody
disables Java if she has it installed on her system. However, a lot of crash
reports indicate that this problem also happens exactly the same way if you
simply don't have any Java installed. In this case, the only difference that
you're not asked for enabling Java - the crash happens immediately.
