Description kieser 2005-01-13 14:54:36 UTC
If I have a word and I add a note such that it splits the word, then the
spelling checker flags that word as misspelt.

The spelling checker should ignore notes and hence still see the word as one
word not two parts!

i can reproduce, 1.9.69, suse linux 9.1. the spell checker underlines the
word up to the point the note is inserted. the rest of the word is not
underlined, however.

reassigned to SBA.

I checked with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52(Build8824)] and can confirm the
problem. So ALL OS - NEW

Funny Thing:
I inserted a Note between the lettrs of "verfolgen", error occured at marked
positions: "ve!r!f!o!l!gen"

Okay, I reinstalled the 1.9.69 RPMS having rpm -e for the 1.9.65 RPMSs and NOW
OO is starting up!

So I guess that something is missing from the 1.9.69 build that is included in
the 1.9.65 build. A library or something?

I used a script to install them so I know that I did the same procedure.

Unfortunately I cannot scrap this machine, wipe the disk clean and do a fresh
1.9.69 installation to get more debug info but I am now convinced that this is a
missing file.

Please ignore the above comment... for some reason this got posted to the wrong
issue! I was doing a post on the previous thread, must be a cookie thing or
something.

SBA: A note within a word is not exactly every users everyday business. Being
confused by a spellchecker stumbling at this point is even less frequently a
problem.
Target set to OOo later.
Reassigned to FME.

Don't underestimate how much these facilities are used out there in the real
world. It may not be a developer's idea of important but this in no way reflects
the reality in offices across this planet. These services are used and used
extensively. This problem was actually reported to me by two people using the
latest milestone as part of their day to day uses! They are changing from M$
word to OO as OO2 has solved so many compatibility issues!

Every feature of the awesome OO2 feature list is important!

This feature is really important! Everyone who is editing texts in a team uses the insert note. Another
problem with the kind of note OOo uses is that it is just like a spot while in many instances the note
should refer to a sentence or a whole paragraph. Then insterting just a small tiny yellow box (as it is
currently) is not enough (or makes it unclear to which text it refers to) MS office has an option that one
can select a portion of text and then insert a note which would at the same time highlight the text. I
think that this improvement should be done asap. I also know lots of people who are using 'insert note'
