Description alex_rus 2005-02-19 22:47:56 UTC
Hi,
does it planned (it will be good to add) the following:
Let say i have the following table

Head 1 Head 2
124.62345234565 133.12346234
123456 1235

when i apply filter it displays value as they are but not as they are formeted
(as does Excel), because in real life the above example will be like:

Head 1 Head 2
125 133
123456 1235

Is it possible to make value to be shown in drop down menu in filter as they are
in workbook and not with all figures after decimal? As especailly when the
formulas are used there are many digits after point so it's very non-user
friendly to show all these digits.

Hi,

I concur, all digits must be shown as these values could, if rounded, not be
compared to the correct values. 1.35 can be 1.351, 1.352, 1.353 and also 1.354
as well as 1.345, 1.346, 1.347, 1.348, 1.349 and 1.35 .

So I close this as wontfix.

Hi,
sorry for reopen, but may be i didn't clearly stated what i meant.

I don't ask to round digits in filter but to make them show as they are in cells,
so if they are shown in sells as 1.351, 1.352, 1.353 etc, so let filter show
them so,
but there can be many cases (especially when user pastes formula as value) and
when he gets something like:
1.351, 1.352, 1.353135646356
and filter shows exactly as stated above, but user can format these values as
1.351, 1.352, 1.353 - so it can be assumed (i think 100%) that he doesn't
require to know the last nine digits of third value, so and in filter drop down
menu he will see only 3 digits after point and not 3 digits after point for the
first two values and 12 digits after point for the third value.

Please see how it works in Excel: the filter drop down menu shows figures
exactly as they formated in workbook, if they are 1234.111 filter will show
1234.111, if they are 1 234$, i also see in filter 1 234$ and so on.

please refer to attached picture:
the value in all cells is the same - 1234,111111, but due to different format of
the cells it is shown differently in the filter's drop down menu (pic 3 and pic
4) - I think it's much more user friendly as how it's made currently.
