sample hebrew text to illustrate problem none

Description hcy 2005-02-28 08:19:51 UTC
When I copy a block of hebrew text in gedit and then paste it in the new OOo
2.0, it shows up as escape codes instead of the actual characters, like:

u05d5ַֽיְהִי־עֶ֥רֶב

The same text, when pasted into the old OOo (1.2) appears fine.

Sample text file included.

TM->ES: Please have a look. Seems not to be UNIX related. Doesn´t look good on
Win too.
Comment 6 eric.savary 2005-05-08 22:33:49 UTC
ES->DVO: as described.
Comment 7 openoffice 2005-05-11 17:27:58 UTC
dvo: I am having trouble reproducing this on Win... Which applications were used?
Comment 8 openoffice 2005-05-11 17:35:38 UTC
dvo: I can't reproduce this on m90 on Linux either...
Comment 9 openoffice 2005-05-13 11:21:30 UTC
dvo: Now working on Linux with m97 and gedit 2.6.1, and I still can't reproduce
this.

dvo->hcy, es: Which versions of OOo and gedit did you test this with?
Is there any additional trick I should be aware of?

Considering the effort, the priority, the risk and our resource planning I've to
retarget this issue to OOo Later.

I have the same problem when I copy and paste Chinese from gedit 2.14.4 to
oowriter version 2.0.4RC1. That is, instead of showing the Chinese text,
oowriter shows a series of unicode escapes (\u....\u...., etc.)

Further observations:

1. If I drag and drop the text from gedit to oowriter, the text pastes correctly
in oowriter, ie. it shows up as Chinese rather than escapes.

2. I can copy and paste Chinese from Firefox to oowriter without any problem.

3. If I copy and paste Chinese text from gedit to Firefox and then from Firefox
to oowriter, there is no problem.

Just a note to report that I can no longer reproduce this problem in OO 2.3.0.
Cutting and pasting Chinese from gedit to oowriter now works without problem.

Perhaps it should be closed?
