Description joerg.skottke 2005-03-18 11:19:58 UTC
This brings up two errormessages in case java and Adabas do not exist in the
installation directory at the expected location.

target 2.0.1, this is ugly but should rarely happen
Comment 2 ingo.schmidt-rosbiegal 2005-03-18 12:11:03 UTC
You are not allowed to change the installation set. In the installation there
have to be subdirectories, which contain the specific files. If this files are
missing, the installation set is incomplete. You also could write a task, that
you get an error, if you remove all cab files.

Reopen for reassigning

reassigning

Setting to WONTFIX again.
Comment 6 joerg.skottke 2005-03-23 08:55:26 UTC
jsk->is: Removing cab-files is not really useful but adabas and java are
external components. Not to deliver java appears absolutely feasible to me. Some
OEM distributor could easily get the idea to remove Java from the installation
sets when he has reason to believe that the customers already have java on their
systems. Same with adabas.

A warning for missing internal files is perfectly ok.
The perfect solution would be that the setup does not display non-existing
components to the user at all so there is no option to install java or adabas if
it is not there.
Second best would be at least not to look for components that have been
deselected during setup, those warnings are annoying at best.

As this is a non-critical issue i think we could get this into a spec of some
sort so i make it a RFE.

jsk->cj: Do you accept this as RFE for a future version?
Comment 8 joerg.skottke 2005-04-05 12:32:31 UTC
to cj.
Comment 9 christian.jansen 2005-05-19 15:50:14 UTC
CJ->BH: I can't come to a decission on that. To make a decission on the
installer we need to decide on the future of Adabs & Java in OO.o/ SO first.
Bettina please take over.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
