After about 95 % of the installation done, the installation programm crashed with this error:

SETUP verursachte einen Fehler durch eine ungÃ¼ltige Seite
in Modul VCL641MI.DLL bei 0167:1c6319a8.

The OS is WIN98SE with no service pack applied. The error was reproduced 2 times with the current version of openoffice (download file OOo_1.0.0_Win32Intel_install_de.zip, date: 2002-05-03)

Resolution:
Java was not installed on this system. Please add to the installation manual, that java is _ABSOLUTELY_ necessary. Otherwise there may be misunderstandings.

Is this reproducible in OOo 1.0.1?

sorry, I don't have OOo1.0.1 yet. But with the previous version, it was only a 
misunderstandig _in_the_documentation_. To verify this, install OOo on a system 
_without_ java.

I've tried on a box without Java: OOo 1.0 is running. Installation
without crash, so I don't think (and I would have bet) that Java is
necessary for OOo installation.
