This only crashes Writer on Solaris: New document, insert a Header, then insert
a footer -> crash. Crash will also occur when only inserting a footer and then
attemptinh to save the document.
I first though of an build error, but m90 and m91 both showed the problem.

Duplicate. 
On Windows it also crashes but not so easily. A bit more inserting/removing of
headers/footers with undo will get you there.
