Description skelem 2005-07-07 02:13:21 UTC
I did a global find/replace on a document, changing "16bit" to "16-bit".
It replaced all the text, but while it was doing it, every instance of the text
was displayed on top of the existing screen without redrawing. The screen was
cluttered with hundreds of instances of the changed text and their stretch handles.

I marked this as a defect because it is really ugly for end-users.

Either display every page properly (which would be really slow), or display no
changes until the last page. In the latter case, some kind of progress bar or
page counter is needed to indicate that progress is being made and that the
program didn't hang.

Sorry, not reproducible. Which version are you using and which Linux? Can you
attach the used document? Thanks in advance.

I'm using OO 1.9.113 on SuSE 9.3 Pro, Gnome, with all the latest updates.

I've attached a sample document. It's 100 pages of the same slide to illustrate
the problem, which is worse than I reported before.

To reproduce the problem:
Open Find/Replace. Change "16bit" to "16-bit" using ReplaceAll.
1. It takes minutes to make about 800 changes!
2. Each change draws the text receptacle, but not the page being drawn.
3. Each change steals the focus, meaning you can't do anything else on the
computer. Even if I change to a different Workspace, OO takes the focus and
changes back to the workspace containing OO.
