AutoComplete/AutoInput is a feature that annoys many people. Ignoring the issue
of whether they should be on or off by default, they are essentially the same
feature and they need to be configurable in the same way.

* Writer's AutoComplete is turned off (or configured) by going to
Tools->AutoCorrect->Word Completion

* Calc's Autoinput is turned off by going to Tools->Cell Contents->AutoInput

Neither is readily findable, and finding one does not give any clues for finding
the other. I suggest that AutoInput be a tab in the AutoCorrect dialog in Calc,
since that dialog is already nearly identical to the one in Writer and it is the
obvious place for a user to look once they've found it in Writer. (In fact,
when it is not found there, it's not much of a logical leap to assume that it
can't be turned off!)

Hi,

this is not a bug but an enhancement request.

Cell autoinput is different to the autocompletion of writer. IMHO this shouldn't
be changed. Nevertheless I re-assign it to the requirements tema for further
investigation and decission finding.

I would like to raise this topic again - current location for AutoInput
setting is so illogical that it is impossible to find.
Please move it to Tools\Options, where it will be easily discoverable.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I agree to Quadong and Kpalagin:
Though both feature may not be totally identical, they *feel* very, very similar!
So, I suggest to unifiy
a) name
b) place

Example/Reason:
May father wanted me to turn off the autocompletion functionality in both his
writer and his calc. In Writer, I knew how to. In Calc, I wondered why the
Tools->Autocorrect menu in Calc lacks the "Word Completion" tab of Writer. So I
searched the OO-help for the name "(auto) complete" -- and didn't find it.
Finally, I found a hint in a Google search in a forum.

I think, most (dumb as me...) users will look for a similar feature at a similar
place and under a similiar name. And I suppose, that's more inconvenient or
problematic than a sligth difference in what the feature does in either Writer
or Calc. What do you think?

Thank you!

Dirk
