Reporter, is this problem still actual for you? If not, the issue should be colosed by OOo-staff, because there seems to be no other interest in this issue. Reassigned to Bettina. *** Issue 9411 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** Setting this to the Documentation component. This is where things like this should be set. You can also check the http://www.ooextras.org site for other templates and clipart. Setting this as TASK so it shows in the Task List for the Documentation team. *** Issue 9411 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** I am interested in designing basic clipart pictures for people to add to letters etc. See http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xfig2sml/ stencils.sxd-wmf.zip?download for free cliparts. Peter See http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xfig2sml/ stencils.sxd-wmf.zip?download for free cliparts. Peter This is not a trivial issue, it is THE major issue keeping many of my customers from adopting OO. OO absolutely MUST be able to properly open MS Office documents that make use of clip art. I've lost yet another potential convert just this week. Too sad. This is not a problem with Clip Art lacking. This sounds like an issue where the clipart in the Doc was not opened properly, which should be reported to the framework project. Clipart in a Word Doc is a part of the doc itself, not referenced from the Users local Clipart gallery. The fact that Clipart is not part of OOo shouldn't cause this kind of issue. If your clients want clipart, there are several CD's that can be purchased with 1000's of clipart on them. For OOo to have clipart, we would need to find a volunteer willing to create several types of graphics for OOo use. > This is not a problem with Clip Art lacking. This sounds like an issue where

Sorry for the stupid questions, but should I cross-post the comments to
framework, or do you generally pass along such comments to the appropriate group?
While the technical solution here may not be in the domain of the Clip Art
working group, the practical problem *is* with clip art. Everyday small and
medium business customers, like the ones that pay my bills, absolutely demand
that when they open an OO document that came from a Word user, they see the
exact same document. That's the core "user experience" requirement, anyway,
with respect to Clip Art. :)
Thanks for all the great work!
I see no stupid questions. Please create an issue under Framework project. Include a document that "Doesn't Look Right" as well as a PDF or Screen Shot of what is messed up with the file. If at all possible... The more information you can provide like this the easier it'll be to duplicate the issue and ultimately fix it. There is now a new Art project located at <http://marketing.openoffice.org/art/>. Thanks. Marking this as Wont Fix for the Documentation project, because it is being taken care of somewhere else. The Art project in Marketing has nothing to do with Clipart for end users. Reopening. I strongly suggest that OOo use the resources of the OpenClipart Library that can be found at http://www.openclipart.org/ The openclipart library project provides thousands of clipart images. This project aims to create an archive of clip art that can be used for free for any use. All graphics submitted to the project should be placed into the Public Domain according to the statement by the Creative Commons. Rather than try to come up with separate graphic images for OOo, just provide instructions on how to download and install the openclipart library. I would be happy to do so if you are interested. Added link to OpenClipart in Samples and templates page in DOC Project webpages. *** Issue 9152 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** im a middle school student and need art for my projects. clipart or some sort of picture program would be nice. i use Ubuntu and when i click on pictures, no clipart is listed. i can choose a file or a scan, but no included clipart options. WHY??? After some years, there is still no clipart supplied with OOo. The Gallery is almost empty, and when you choose Insert - Picture - From File, there is not a single picture to be seen. If this is intended behavior close this as WONTFIX, else please find some clipart files with a proper license and include them with the OOo distribution. You can download an use our stuffs: http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/taxonomy/term/34 From the documentation point of view, the only thing we can do is put some pointers to places where people can get clipart and tell them how to get it into the Gallery. The user guide chapters on graphics (esp. the one in Getting Started) talk about the Gallery but not about clipart. If users' expectations are to find clipart under Insert > Picture, then again the info in the chapters on using graphics needs modification. It's a similar problem to the lack of templates shipped with OOo, but the user guides do make reference to extensions etc as places to get them, and how to deal with them. I consider this to be an enhancement to the user docs, so I will pursue it. Can someone (Clayton?) assign this issue to me? Reassigning stumbling over this issue by chance, I'd like to point to a related discussion on discuss@ux.openoffice.org (as the thread has been broken by my webmailer please search for "Clipart repository"): http://ux.openoffice.org/servlets/SearchList?list=discuss&searchText=clipart+repository&defaultField=subject&Search=Search The Art Project is interested in providing clipart - hopefully this might end in better/more clipart included in the main application. We start collecting them at our wiki page, as long as there is no better place: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Art/Gallery/Cliparts - it is not really active now, but possibly soon... Best regards Bernhard Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org". For me, this issue is obsolete. Since AOO 4.x, we retreived Gallery from Lotus Symphony. As comment 21 you can get a lot of cliparts through extension: https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/search?query=gallery&sort_by=created&sort_order=DESC |
