Description aschrage 2002-05-24 14:14:46 UTC
When you enter a manual line break into a cell with the formula, the formual is
not computed any more. For example enter the following formula in the cell A3:
="The sum is " & sum(a1:a2)
This works fine. But now enter a manual line break (CTRL + Enter) after
the 'is'. What I would expect to see is the text in the first line and the
value in the second line. Instead of this Calc shows the text and formula
itself.
When you import an Excel-Sheet into Calc that has such line breaks in a cell it
works fine.

Hi,
reproduced. Excel disregards the manual linebreak. But I think it
would be even nicer to use it as formatting feature.
Best regards, Peter

Inserting a line break into the formula changes the cell type to a
complex edit cell, not being a formula cell anymore.

er->pj: With a "formatting feature" you're referring to a linebreak
inserted into the calculated formula output? No way.

In case anyone is still following this, it has not been implemented in 1.9.74.
Not saying it should, but I was here so I thought I would comment.

Peschtra,

This issue was retargeted to OOoLater, which means that it will not go into OOo2.0.
