What happens when the cell size exceeds the physical screen size ?!
Forgot to add, this is using m128. I confirm this and I've found a work around: right click the numbered or lettered portion of border and choose "row height" to change the size. I've found Excel 2002 limits cell height to be 546 pixels no matter what resolution you're using. Thanks for that. Although it does now enable me to read the original spread sheet sadly it is not a solution. 1) The method requires several mouse clicks / key entries. 2) The height is shown in cm !!! What does that mean when you are looking at a 17 inch monitor ! 3) Optimal Row Height just does the same as Row Height. One might expect it to find the optimal height so the contents fit on the screen ! However, once the cell has bee resized it all works perfectly in fact, arguably, better than Excel. For a start, when the cell is clicked it presents an over flow cell which is the height of the Calc window, is a lot less confusing than the Excel solution and allows all the text to be viewed with the cursor keys. Surely if Calc realises that the cell overflows its own window size could not a similar solution be used ? Hi, not a defect from Calc but one of the design of the sheet. Such cells are IMHO nonsense. To answer your questions : 1. True, but what's about using your scrollwheel and CTRL key simultaneously ? This will change the zoom factor for the sheet. 2. This is just a setting under tools options spreadsheet. 3. Optimal row height is there for changing the row height to fit all the text to fill just the whole cell in case you have more content as the currently cell height can fit. It has nothing to do with screen resolution and viewable screen size. Frank Hi Niklas, your idea with scrolling if the cell is in edit mode sounds good. So please have a look at this Issue. Frank Hello, Please could you tell me if a target date has been set for a fix ? Thanks, Owen Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org". |
