Description scagni 2005-09-19 14:37:38 UTC
When saving Impress documents in any format, the last editing position is not
remembered and when you reopen them they are always showed at the starting page.
This happens even though the associated setting in the options-general-view
window is activated.
It happened with writer documents too a while ago, but has been corrected there.

The behaviour was changed afaik a short time ago in that way, that impress
always opens up on the first page. Maybe the settings in the options weren't
part of the restructuring.
@CJ: what is to be done here, should the setting in the options-general-view
window be deleted?

IMHO the option should absolutely not deleted! Instead it should be available
and working on all types of documents. The reason I see for this is that while
you are editing the doc, especially if you have many other things to do on your
job and have to open and close the file many times, it is MUCH easier to pick up
where you left it whe the file opens at exactly the same place.
Of course when you do the presentation you generally want to start from the
beginning, but going to the start is an easy and automatic operation. Instead,
recollecting where you were working the last time you closed the file is far
from trivial if the file is large and complicated.
