Description msandersen 2005-09-20 18:04:40 UTC
It would be handy to expand the Change Case submenu to include Initial Caps and
Change Case
eg
Format -> Change Case -> Initial Caps
would change YOURS SINCERELY to Yours Sincerely

Format -> Change Case -> Change Case
would change

Sorry, inadvertently hit Enter :( To conclude:
Format -> Change Case -> Invert Case
would change wRONG cASE to Wrong Case (such as if you type with the caps lock on
without looking at the screen; happens to me, I'm not a touch-typist)

I suggest merging this with issue 30132, which already has 6 votes
Comment 4 noswad 2006-06-22 10:42:23 UTC
Current funtion is limited by not including Initial Caps option. MS Word offers
this greater functionality which I use every day.

issue 30132 has been marked a duplicate of issue 1601 and closed, and the votes
transferred. It currently has 12 votes. It's from way back in 2001. So this may
be a duplicate too.

Whereas these functions are available in
Format -> Character... -> Font Effects tab
these are specific character styles. Also, they're too deeply buried.

Changing case is such a common function, that they SHOULD appear under Change
Case, in a representative style, and they should override character styles.

So, Change Case SHOULD have "UPPERCASE", "lowercase", "iNVERT cASE" (sounds
better than "Toggle Case"), "Initial Caps", and "Sentence case", and applying
them should change any Character Style on the selection.
