try: 

inserting three new layers in impress
insert any objects to the different layers

Now!: insert a field such as date

the object is visible in the thumbnail area but not accessible in the editing
area !!

The fields are on the unvisible layout layer. This is draw, not impress. 
Behaviour is reproducible.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
