Description robbk 2005-09-30 08:24:35 UTC
An object in AutoCAD is marked and copied to the clipboard using Ctrl-C.
The object is pasted into an MS Excel document using Ctrl-V.
The Excel document is saved with the default ending .xls.
The Excel document is opened in OOo Calc by double-clicking the document in
Windows Explorer. OOo is launched because the ending .xls is assigned to OOo.
The images in the embedded OLE objects are now much smaller than in the Excel
document. The objects themselves are the same size, but the images are tiny.
That is, the white space around them is much larger.
When embedding the objects directly from AutoCAD into Calc, there is no problem,
but we have hundreds of existing Excel documents to convert. It would be better
to have used GIF images than embedded OLE objects, but we have hundreds of
existing spreadsheets with OLE objects.
Versions used (all German versions):
AutoCAD 2005
Microsoft Excel 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3)
OpenOffice.org 2.0 (1.9.125)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2

Hi Sven,

Daniel told me that this is a problem on your construction site.

Please have a look and re-target as needed.

Frank

Is There anything new on this issue. Because this is a critical bug in our
migration from MS Office to OpenOffice.
Comment 6 robbk 2006-11-14 06:55:46 UTC
I just tested this again by opening the attached Excel file in OOo 2.0.4, German
version. The result still looks like the second attached screenshot. When can we
expect headway on this issue, which was reported over a year ago? Our migration
from MS to OOo is imminent. Thanks.

I am sorry, I can't say when I will have enough time to evaluate this issue.

At the moment I am having more than 300 issues, so it may last until your
problem is fixed.

May be, just replacing MS Office (who is "required" to install AutoCAD) as OLE
table editor (Excell incorporation) should be usefull and much simpler to
implement. It is able to attrack new users who were inprisonned in MSOffice
since they MUST use AutoCAD with Excell table in OLE in it.

But this feature will not be multi-system, of course...

See also issue 69714, which seem to be similar

This is a duplicate of Issue 20042
If you take a look at the properties of the objects in Ecxel, you will see that
they are cropped.
This feature is currently not available in OOo, thus the wrong display in OOo.
