I get a royalty report in Excel format emailed to me on a quarterly basis. It is
autogenerated in Excel.

When I open in any version of OpenOffice (v1 or v2.0 includes beta2) the owed
royalty is the wrong value! Both Excel, Gnumeric, and Documents to Go v7 (PalmOS
spreadsheet) produce the proper value.

This is a very serious defect, that could have had serious financial implications.

I have distilled a test case and am attaching it.

Comment 2 Regina Henschel 2005-10-14 00:58:28 UTC
The table is ill-structured. The cells in column A with the dot are no numbers
but text. Try to format them with % and you can see it. On the other hand where
is determined whether a number uses the decimal delimiter dot or comma? OOo
cannot calculate with text. The issue 5658 for discussion.
