Description esperantisto 2005-11-08 09:30:33 UTC
When I want choose the "Text encoded" file type in the file open dialog of
Writer, I can see only files with the .txt name extension. This is very
inconvenient as text files may come with virtually any extension (for example, I
often I need to process .dsl files that are dictionary sources for the program
Lingvo in UTF-16LE). My suggestion is that files with all extensions appear in
the file open dialog when "Text encoded" selected.

Hi esperantisto,
thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org...

Hmmm,
did you think of such files like
*.sx*, *.od*, *.jpg, *.gif, *.bmp, *.pdf, *.dxf, *.zip, *.rar, *.iso, *.bz2,
*.tar, *.exe, *.lzw, *.raw, *,doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.png, *.mpg, *.avi, *.mov,
*.obj, *.pcx, *.eps, *.ogg, *.mp3, *.wav, *.tmp, *.ace, *.r01, *.001, *.FLT,
*.DEV, *.PHX, *.RZR, *.rpm, *.deb, *.ccd, *.img, *.sub, *.scr, *.zoo, *.wmf,
*.tiff, *.mpeg, *.divx, *.xvid, *.wmv, *.ps, *.au, *.gz and many other file formats?

Anyway...
reassigned to requirements...

Maybe there's a way to realize this... (???)

Hi, mci!

I perfectly understand your point. But Microsoft Word DOES allow me to choose
ANY file extension for text encoded and this is convenient. OOo insists on .txt
only, and that's quite irritating.

Word 2010 has filter "Recover Text from Any File (*.*)" which shows the dsl text file.
