Description mekosmowski 2005-12-02 02:03:56 UTC
I had a Linux application running (cpmd, a computational chemistry program
compiled locally with PGI compilers, see www.cpmd.org for more info if needed)
which was generating a text file. I attempted to open this text file before
the application was finished writing the whole file. OpenOffice hung and
crashed as a result. I am able to view these text files (before the app is
finished) using less.

I was attempting this over a wireless network from a Windows XP Home laptop.
The Linux machine is a dual opteron machine running SuSE 9.1 64 bit. The
above mentioned successful use of less to preview the document in question was
performed via this same network connection using PuTTY.

Right clicking the Windows wireless networking icon in the system tray and
clicking "repair" seemed to unhang OpenOffice without crashing.

So the text file is hosted on a Samba network share?

On local file system on Linux with OOo 2.0.1rc1, I created a script to write to
a text file forever, and I could not reproduce problem.
