Description peddecke 2005-12-18 14:37:21 UTC
When viewing a presentation on a dualscreen setup, the presentation itself is
shown on the second screen while the main program remains on the primary screen,
wich is very nice. However, when the presentation moves along and we advance to
the next slide, the main program still keeps showing the first slide.

It should be lots better if you can see the slide or notes on the primary screen
corresponding to the currently shown slide on the secondary screen and advance
by pressing page down while the main program is active, or pressing a random key
when the presentation screen is active. It should also be possible to select
the slide shown on the secondary screen by clickin on the slide in the slides
sidepanel of the main program on the primary screen.

Dual screen capability makes Impress world class. A few enhancements will blow
PowerPoint 2003 out of the water!

The following are features I think would be very helpful:

1) Ability to view slides ahead of and behind the one being displayed. The
viewing should be in the Impress editor (no extra windows required). The slide
being projected should be indicated or highlighted in the Slide Pane. A toggle
allows for linking and unlinking the Edit (normal) Pane to the slide being
projected.

2) The ability to edit the next slide before displaying it and without
interrupting the currently displayed slide. When editing a future slide, the
Link Toggle button would allow advancing the Edit Pane without changing the
displayed slide.

3) A small "stay on top" dialog with four buttons: a) next slide b) previous
slide c) Link displayed slide to edit window d) blank extended desktop. It would
be nice if somehow this is what would be affected by a remote control . (The
Navigator dialog is nice, but a simpler dialog would be useful.)

4) (This is important.) Slide show setup should allow you to select the multiple
monitor features even if you don't have extended desktop enabled. It is often
necessary to set while the audience waits, so the speaker should be able to do
as much in advance as possible. Some (all?) notebooks will not allow you select
Extended Desktop until an output device is attached. Currently Impress will not
allow you to select Multiple Monitor funtions unless a second monitor is active.
We can't fix the problem with the notebooks, but we can help work flow by
allowing Setup to output to the second monitor. (Should this be a separate issue?)

I think these suggestions are merely implementation of this issue rather then a
new issue.
