When printing multiple copies to a printer that prints in duplex mode,
then when when "collate" is not selected, I would expect that first page 1 and
next page 2 on reverse side will be printed, which process will be repeated for
every copy.

This is not the case. First page 1 is printed, and next on the reverse side page
1 is printed again. I don't think there is anyone who would need such kind of
functionality.
