Description aschrage 2002-06-27 14:21:09 UTC
When you click on the button to select all cells of a spreadsheet (upper left
corner above first row and left from first column), you can't make a right click
on this button to get a context menu. After you have selected all cells you have
to right click on a row or column to get the context menu.
Please add also a context menu to the above mentioned button.

Hi Falko,

1 4 u.

But I can't see any reason to add a context menu for this selector.

I think a context menu for this selector would make the user interface
more logical. Image you want to change quickly the font for the whole
spreadsheet. You click the selector and than you make a right click to
open the context menu to get to the 'Format Cell' option. But you
can't and you have to move the mouse to another area of the spreadsheet.
Besides that in MS-Excel it is possible and would make the transition
to Calc more smoothly.

Hi Ansgar,

for changing the Font for the whole spreadsheet, we have the stylist.
Just right click on the default cell style and choose Modify. Now
select the Font Tab page and change the font.

Doing this will not increase the loading time of a document as it
would if you do it as you have described. Your way will set the
changed flag for all selected cells, so all cells have to be saved.
The stylist way will save only the realy altered cell range.

I think we shouldn't change a good think into a not so good one just
to adapt some 'errors' from Excel. (Just my personal opinion !)

Best regards

Frank

Hello Frank,
OK I see your point and I agree. It is maybe that I used Excel for too
long and just used to certain habits. I think Falko should make the
final call and decide it the issue can be closed or the change can be
made.
Best,
Ansgar

Maybe the only entry of such a popup menu should be "Change default style" to show the
"right way". :-)

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
