The problem is that the file name is 292 characters, which is way more than 
most filesystems can handle (e.g. ext3 stops at 255 characters).

hmm... i would rather suggest to build an english only version and lots of
languagepacks :)

another thing that comes into mind is to throw an error if the number of
languages exeeds a usefull limit...
