Description pavel 2006-03-19 20:25:48 UTC
Hi,

according to

http://porting.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=mac&msgNo=702

please implement --enable-universal configure argument

--help output:

--enable-universal Build universal binaries on Mac OS X instead
                      of native binaries.

if --enable-universal is used, set the variable UNIVERSAL_BINARIES to "yes".

Reassign to macport.

Do we want this at all?

Comment 6 shaunmcdonald131 2007-12-21 20:38:18 UTC
Yes!

Universal Binaries will make the life of plain old users easier, and give ooo greater acceptance.
Comment 7 msicotte 2007-12-21 22:25:44 UTC
+1 for universal
I can take this over if no one else wants it.
I would also like to see the ability to make all three possibilities in one go -
universal, ppc, and intel. I have both architectures and I do see some benefit
in the single architecture build. Is anyone else interested in this?
Comment 8 pavel 2007-12-22 09:06:31 UTC
I was interested. But I think it doesn't make sense for OOo.

My patches are at

http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/build/Patches/SRC680/

Files starting with UB-*

Feel free to use them.

Comment 9 eric.bachard 2007-12-22 09:14:09 UTC
@Michael

I already played with them: it builds, but there are still issues (
OpenOffice.org won't launch ) and maybe use system stl could help. I didn't
investigate further, but if you are interested, I can give you some hints.
