Description craiglawson 2006-03-27 00:40:25 UTC
To reproduce:
 1. Create new Draw document.
 2. Place 2 objects (e.g. circles). Create a connector and connect the two objects.
 3. Create new Write document.
 4. Copy 2 objects and connector from Draw, and paste into new Write document.
 5. Ungroup pasted stuff in Write document.
 6. Save write document.
 7. Quit OpenOffice.
 8. Start OpenOffice and open saved Write document.
9a. Click on one of the objects and change it's position. Release mouse button.
or:
9b. Use Format > Page to change page size.
10. Connector will disappear and redraw in an incorrect position.
11. To restore connector, click on an object and change it's position; release
mouse button. Sometimes you have to do this twice, because the first time might
change the connector, but to a different incorrect position.

might be duplicate to issue 40794; I followed the description and was able to
reproduce, but only around 1 in 40 object movements resulted in a wrong drawn
connector. Hitting undo/redo initially drew the connector in the wrong place
again but further undo/redo drew the connector correctly; nevertheless confirmed
with 680_m160 on WinXP Pro SP2

MRU->OD: after püasting a group containing a connector (and ungrouping them in
Writer), the connector seems to lose some information afer saving and reloading
the document.
Moving one of the objects after re-opening puts the connector in a wrong
position. This seems to vanish when performing an Undo step. After that the
connector moves correctly.

adjust target milestone to OOo 2.x
Comment 4 Mathias_Bauer 2007-12-03 14:49:25 UTC
according to release status meeting -> 3.x

I did some tests recently and found other manifestations of positioning errors.

Attachment bodessin.odt is a Writer document containing two connectors copy/pasted
from a Draw page. These connectors should show connected to the rectangle and to the
ovale forms. This is not the case with OOo 2.2.1 and 2.3.1
Select the ovale, move it a little, miracle ! the connectors are reconnected !

If I open the same document with OOo 1.1.5 I have no problem at all.

Attachment bocarres.odt opens correctly : the connector links the two rectangles.
Move one of the rectangles with mouse. When you pull up your finger from the mouse
left button the connector will move elsewhere.
Click again and move the rectangle : now the connector is back again. And there will
be no problems later in the session : positioning error occurs only on the first move
after document opening.

If I open the same document with OOo 1.1.5 I have no problem at all.

Connectors are an absolute need when you draw an organizational chart. Such a chart
is in a Writer document, not a Draw document. So these bugs are very inconvenient
when using Writer in a business environment. The fact that it works in OOo 1.1.5
should incite developers to correct the problem in a short timeframe.
