Description omiazad 2006-05-02 06:02:02 UTC
I don't know what rendering engine OpenOffice uses. I think it uses it's own in
both Windows, Linux and OSX. But I found some things are not working according
to http://www.unicode.org/review/pr-37.pdf I agree that there are lots of wrong
informations in http://www.unicode.org/faq/indic.html but it's our
responsibility to follow the right information for making the product work well.

Thanks
Omi

Omi, could you attach a screenshot showing expected and actual rendering ?
Comment 2 omiazad 2006-05-02 06:21:16 UTC
:)
The developers should notice all the things na? Any ways. For example if you
want to type Ra-Yaphala, according to http://www.unicode.org/faq/indic.html it
should be Ra + ZWNJ + Halanth + Ya, which is discarded in
http://www.unicode.org/review/pr-37.pdf and it became Ra + ZWJ + Halanth + Ya

Yesterday I found OOo (Win32) still follows Ra + ZWNJ + Halanth + Ya, which
should be corrected by Ra + ZWJ + Halanth + Ya

Please check the PDF file first.

Thanks

Thanks for the explanation Omi. The developers and others would always welcome
screenshots since they make comprehending problems easier. :)

Well, I think this bug doesn't need any screenshot to be understand. The
explanation is very clear. If I supply the Images, Non-Bengali developers has to
work more to find out what letters I used to produce the Image. Still if you
want it, let me know. I can produce and attach it. :)
