Description reedstrm 2002-07-22 19:24:03 UTC
I've a document created with Word which includes embedded equations. They
_almost_ import correctly, just show up with really odd fonts (greek and symbol
fonts for latin and simple punctuation, like parens, etc). If I save the sxw
file, unzip it, and open the OLE objects directly, they display correctly in the
equation editor. I'll attach the offending document. Selecting the OLE object
and double clicking
gives 'Error activating object:General OLE error'

The original doc was created on a Mac. I opened it under NT, resaved, and saw the
same behavior. Attaching that (smaller) doc as well.

Reassigned to Michael.

Yes, we know about the font problems when Wwriting formulas in MS
format. This will be fixed with OpenOffice release 643.
Comment 5 reedstrm 2002-09-09 16:00:28 UTC
Is this fixed in CVS tip? your characterization of this as a 'font
problem' doesn't seem to fit my investigation of it - it seems to be
an incomplete import. If I open the individual Word OLE objects (in
the equation editor), resave as OpenOffice Formulas, and place them in
the document, I get a different (proper) structure, with OLE
directories containing MathML.

Yeah, sorry, I mixed it up with another issue, regarding export with
Equation objects.
MRU->CMC: after import of the attached document, you can see that the
symbols are not correctly displayed. When activating them, it looks
good again.
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2002-09-09 16:35:10 UTC
Reassigned to CMC.
Comment 8 caolanm 2002-09-27 14:10:01 UTC
cmc->sj:
With mathtype import/export unchecked, load this document, some of the
ole preview images are displayed with incorrect symbols. e.g. the
large 3rd one and some "x/y scaling" asserts appear. Can we display
those ole2 wmf's correctly ?, perhaps there is a font issue because
its coming originally from a mac platform.

After you fix or decide they cannot be fixed please send it back to me
to see why they are not converted to starmath with mathtype im/ex checked.

a pct - extraction of the Mac version of LittlesTheorem.doc
Comment 10 sven.jacobi 2002-10-07 11:41:07 UTC
The Mac version of the document is only containing pct pictures, I
mean there is no windows metafile included. After extracting the pct
graphics I realized, that we are able to display all of them properly.
It seems, that the error is happening when converting the pct
graphics to wmf. The conversion is done, because our internal
representation graphic of an OLE object is wmf. I will try to find
this conversion bug.

SJ: Changed target to OOo 2.0. If there is enought time left, I will
try to prefer this Issue for OOo 1.1
