Hello theusers, there seems to be something wrong with this isssue. Component is "el" which means "Greek native language". Are you sure? I cannot understand your issue. Which modul? Which dialog? Please give a step by step description, see guide http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html it went by mistake to 'el' but the issue is valid as is there should be an 'apply' button to the 'options' tab (tools menu > options) the 'apply' button appears in mumerous applications' options tab who needs more explanation? who doesnt realize its importance? msword doesnt have it, it may be a matter of stability or whatever nomatterwhat, it is common in numerous software I will change Component to framework. All pages under Tools > Options have got an OK-button. Should the Apply-Button be there in addition and if yes, what shoud it do? Or do you want the term 'Apply' in stead of 'OK'? the term, or how the 'ok' button will be called ('ok' or 'apply') is not the problem I want a NEW button, that will be called 'apply', that will implement the changes maded in 'options' tab, without closing the 'options' tab (the 'ok' button implements the changes and closes the 'options' tab) its in numerous applications, an example is under WindowsXP in Control Panel > Internet Options tab, where there is an 'apply' button apart from the 'ok' and 'cancel' ones the function of the 'apply' button in ooo will be the same as in the 'Internet Options' example above thanks description is clear now reassigned I am missing this option too! Very big usability flaw in my eyes. You can't make any adjustments, without seeing the results. Maybe it is even nicer to trigger an apply immediately after you make an adjustment in a control. (E.G. when you change the indent of a paragraph you should see result already when you changed the number in the settings window, so before you press apply, let alone OK). When you press Cancel you should of course undddddo these changes in the "preview" I personaly believe that an apply button is missing on several places, please add loads of them. Specially when working in Impress. There are several other requests for "Apply" buttons dating back to 2001. I'm posting this message in all of them. Does anyone know an effective way to join them, to add the votes, to raise visibility with developers ? These are found looking for the word "Apply" in the subject: 2374 (ui) add Apply button in Options to avoid having to re-drill down 10173 (Drawing) Apply button to dialogs 15582 (Word processor) Implement 'Apply changes' option 24443 (Word processor) change button name of style catalog: ok -> apply 45396 (framework) "Apply" button in "Appearance" box 51333 (framework) Add "Apply" button to dialogs "Tools-Options" and "Tools-Customize" 67133 (framework) apply button in options tab 67848 (Chart) add a button 'Apply' on the dialog 'Object Properties' In the meantime, I hope you'd consider voting for all of them. Thanks, Edgardo. I'd like to see an Apply button in every dialog that enables a user to modify parameters so as to enable users to quickly try different values and immediately see how that changes the selected text or image. Using OpenOffice I find myself constantly going back and forth between those dialogs via menus and submenus just because there is no Apply button. This is therefore a very serious usability issue. It sometimes makes me very upset. I therefore ASK WITH FORCE that OpenOffice developers add Apply buttons to as many dialog boxes as they can. Thank you. DUP of "Issue 51333 - Add "Apply" button to dialogs "Tools-Options" and "Tools-Customize""? Closing issue as DUP due to reporter's inactivity. @reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you find out that the problem still exists in the latest public release of AOO and if you can provide requested additional information. We need a test kit (Attachment here in the Bug report) and a detailed step by step instruction how to reproduce your problem, for details please see <http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/HowToFileIssue>! Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you find evidence that we have an independent issue here (for example because the fix for the other bug does not work for you). *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of issue 51333 *** |
