I think the issue 10525 is the same ?

Transferring keywords from 10525.

Christian,
this is single most important feature missing from Impress (eventhough some
other issues have much more votes).
Are we really on track for 3.0?
Comment 5 clippka 2007-10-15 16:28:25 UTC
kpalagin,

this is one of the many "single most important feature missing" (TM) issues that
I'm currently very focused on and I'm planning to have it ready until end of
this year (fingers crossed). So 3.0 seems to be no problem.
Comment 6 kpalagin 2007-10-16 07:20:50 UTC
Christian,
thank you very much for your encouraging response!
Keep us informed.
Comment 7 hub 2007-12-07 16:08:43 UTC
christian,

is there a cws for this feature? I couldn't find it in EIS.
Comment 8 hub 2007-12-07 18:25:30 UTC
my bad. it is in impresstables2
Comment 9 kpalagin 2008-01-16 20:43:40 UTC
Christian,
do you have an estimate of when we can testdrive native Impress tables?

WBR,
KP.
Comment 10 clippka 2008-01-18 10:57:02 UTC
Hi KP,

thanks for your interest. Depending on how much time I'm able to spend for
developing the next days, I plan to have a preview release in one to two weeks.
This will be in the form of a downloadable office install set for windows, linux
and solaris.
Comment 11 clippka 2008-02-01 19:32:13 UTC
Hi KP et al,

There is an early developer snapshot build for Windows and Linux available.

Any news?

cl->kpalagin: since there where actually zero feedback I will not bother to do
another public preview version. Currently my work on the feature has finished
and I'm updating the specification and then wg will test the feature in the cws.
So 3.0 feature deadline seems to be ok if there are no severe issues found in
the next days.

As I have seen today that you didn't receive any comments on the new table
feature. I voted for this feature and this feature is very important to me.
Therefore I checked it today and I like it very much. The tables look great and
the features you have showed in the little video (in your blog) work fine.

I have found some other quirks though. Probably you know these issues already:
- I made a nice table and tried to copy it to another slide. There I pasted the
table and it appeared very thin. The original table filled the entire slide and
the copy was just a few milimeters wide.
- I wanted to „center“ a text in a table cell. But neither „center“ nor „right“
changed anything. The text stayed on the left side of the cell.
The green color in the sample table style does not have any name (just â–¡) in the
menu bar.
- Exporting the document to ppt did not work. Powerpoint was stopped loading the
file. The file was not loadable by Powerpoint.
- Export to PDF worked fine
- I tried to merge two cells and it worked. The text that has been in one of
both cells dissapeared and was lost though (only the text of the left cell was
preserved)
- Split cell crashed OpenOffice several times.
- After a crash the recovery agent does not recover anything changed in tables
after the last saved file.

Thanks a lot for your work! This is the one missing feature keeping many of my
friends away from using Impress. Now it is there and I actually can't wait to
have it in the final version 3.0.

Hi gleppert, many thanks for your valuable feedback. It has all been already
