Sorting the same, large spreadsheet is an order of magnitude slower in
OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 than in Excel 2000. There should be opportunities for
optimization.

Approximate times (Windows 2000, 1GHz Intel CPU):
OpenOffice.org 2.0.3: 12 seconds
Excel 2000: 1.5 seconds

In my case, it's sorting a 40,000x20 spreadsheet by a mostly-blank text column.
(For my case here, it's generally tolerable, but I imagine it's more serious
for other people.)
