where a and b are tables,

which works fine in Excel

gives this error:

Err:508

Not wishing to contradict 'ericb', but this may effect OpenOffice.org.

problem. I assume you have tested the latest 'Offical' OOo Mac version- and have
recreated the problem there too...

I believe this is an OpenOffice - MS Excel incompatability.
It seems Excel will allow you to define a range for a function by two named
cells ('a_start':'a_end'). This is not supported (AFAIK) in OOo. However, you
can define a named range ('a'='a_start':'a_end').

This probably functions as designed and is thus an Enhancement.
