I am used to be able to mark an entire row or column with the mouse and then 
mark the following rows/columns by simple holding the shift key down and move 
press the arrow keys.

Calc react in another way, though, resetting the entire selection area, if an 
entire rows/columns marking has been made.
This is somewhat unlogical, since I can easily mark a few cells in the sheet 
and then continue working with the selection with the arrow keys.
