My impress presentation has pages containing objects, which are placed in a way,
that parts of them are outside the page boundaries (and that is the wanted
position, it makes sense).
If I change the background colour on a different (!) page (by Page Setup /
Background, answering "no" to the question "for all pages?"), all objects (in
the whole impress document), which are partly outside the pages are weirdly
moved, screwing up the presentation! 
This happens also, in the case that all of those objects have their positions
protected!

I also tried the windows version, which shows the same bug.
Simple test case:
1. Create a presentation with two blank slides
2. Place an object (e.g. line) half outside on one slide
3. Change the background colour of the other slide
