document with two different xy charts none

Description Regina Henschel 2006-12-22 23:59:07 UTC
Take the attached calc dokument. It contains two XY-charts, both with two data
series. In the left one, each data series has got its own x-values. In the
right one the data series use the same x-values.

Now open a new writer document and copy the charts from calc to writer. You get
charts, which are based on own data tables.

Try to change the data series in both cases:

In the chart, which has combined columns, try the following:
(1) Delete the x-value column of the second x-y-combination. You will always
delete the whole x-y-combination.
(2) Delete an x-y-combination and try to add a single y-column. You will always
get a new x-y-combination.

(3) In the chart, which has single y-columns, try to add a x-column for the
second y-column. It is not possible.

Notice, that you have two xy-charts, which are very different in handling. If
this is intended, it needs a description in some spec. If it is not intended,
than the UI of the chart data table needs a possibility to specify and change
the role of an inserted column.

There are similar problems with stock charts, see issue 72433. But I don't know,
whether that are same issues.

@Iha: any reason for this?

Set Target

bm: Please take over as you are on the data table.

I think it is stated in the spec, that you can only have an xy chart where all
series share the same x-values or they all have separate ones. You cannot switch
between both modes, though. We should have a possibility to switch.

Switch from one x-sequence to many: just copy the one

Switch from many x-sequences to one: check if they have equal content, if not
(which is probably the usual case) warn the user that data is removed (the
x-sequences of series 2, ..., n)
Comment 6 IngridvdM 2007-01-18 11:47:55 UTC
changed target to 2.3
Comment 7 bjoern.milcke 2007-02-28 16:15:52 UTC
setting to enhancement as it affects a new feature and doesn't violate the
current spec.
Comment 8 bjoern.milcke 2007-02-28 16:16:59 UTC
Removing "new chart" in summary as this is not a regression over the old chart.
Comment 9 bjoern.milcke 2007-06-13 19:36:53 UTC
adapting target
Comment 10 Martin Hollmichel 2007-09-12 13:13:45 UTC
