Description jocaha 2007-01-16 15:18:23 UTC
i have a hsql database as an open document database file (.odb). I open it with
Star Office 8 Update 5. I have created some reports.

When i double-click on a report's name, a window appears and shows me the
document read-only and filled with data. Everything is fine, but i can not
change the zoom of the view, because the view / zoom menu item is disabled (grey
and not clickable).

If you want to see if the report's layout is al right, you have to scroll the page.

Note that this is a Star Office 8 bug. Maybe it appears with OOo too. I have not
found the right place to report a bug on Sun's website. There is a general
discussion forum, but threads on the first page are almoust one month old. If
anyone knows a better place than here for reporting Star Office bug, please let
me know.

fs->os: Is there any good reason for disabling zoom in embedded documents? No,
not the reason "because it is an embedded document", but a good one :)
It might make sense to disable zooming in in-place objects, but for out-place
objects, such as Base's forms and reports, I don't see a good reason ...

The fact that Ctrl+mouse-wheel still allows to zoom shows that it is technically
possible, but only the UI seems to be crippled ...

I can report that this issue is still present in OpenOffice 3.0.0 OOO300m9
(Build:9358) on Mac OS X 10.5.6 Intel. The zoom controls are ghosted. The zoom
level is also not indicated in the status bar.

Zoom is possible fortunately using command+mouse-scroll-ball.
